The Croatian Guitar Duo, formed by Edin Karamazov and Melita Ivković, brings together two artistic voices in a collaboration shaped by close musical dialogue, technical precision, and a shared interest in exploring the guitar repertoire beyond conventional formats. Their performances are characterised by a thoughtful balance between historical awareness and contemporary interpretation.

Edin Karamazov is one of today’s most highly regarded guitarists and lutenists. After studying classical guitar and winning numerous awards, he continued his studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel under Hopkinson Smith. As a soloist, he has performed and recorded with leading early music ensembles, including the Hilliard Ensemble, Hespèrion XX, L’Arpeggiata and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and has collaborated with artists such as Andreas Scholl, Dorothee Oberlinger and Sting. He has performed at some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall in London and the Berlin Philharmonie. His extensive discography includes numerous critically acclaimed albums released by Deutsche Grammophon, Decca, Sony Classical and other major labels.

Melita Ivković is a performing artist and educator active on the international concert scene for more than three decades, with over 500 performances in 32 countries. She is co-founder of Dina e Mel, an ethnology-based world-music project focused on the research and reinterpretation of traditional vocal material, and has also been engaged in teaching, cultural organisation, and festival work.

At the centre of the duo’s repertoire are original arrangements for two guitars by Edin Karamazov, bringing together works by composers from different historical periods, including Joseph Haydn, Sergei Prokofiev, and Johann Sebastian Bach. Through these arrangements, the duo explores a wide stylistic range—from Classical formal clarity to modernist expression and Baroque contrapuntal writing—while extending the expressive scope of the guitar duo.
